Filter sterilized X-gal - IPTG solution, 1000X(40 mg/ml IPTG, 32 mg/ml X-gal) available in 2 convenient packaging options:

  • 10 ml dropper bottle - Simply add 3 drops to standard petri dishes (100 mm) and spread.
  • 1.5 ml tube - Ideal for situations where precise concentrations are required.
  • Drop & spread on prepoured plates or add to molten agar prior to pouring.
  • Recommended for all standard lacZ selection systems.
  • Stable at 4ºC for 6 months - eliminates freeze-thaw cycles that reduce selection efficiency.
  • No hazardous or toxic solvents including DMSO and DMF.
  • Each 10 ml dropper bottle is sufficient to prepare about 100 plates.

Liquid media containing antibiotics are typically prepared by adding the antibiotic solution to freshly autoclaved media cooled below 50°C. Antibiotic solutions can also be plated directly onto agar plates and spread evenly across the surface. Liquid media and agar plates containing antibiotics should be stored at 4°C for no longer than thirty days to maintain the drugs’ effectiveness. Unless otherwise stated, all antibiotic solutions can be prepared in sterile filtered, distilled water and stored at –20°C.
