HistoMark® BLACK and ORANGE are metal-enhanced DAB Systems. Metal enhanced DAB technology permits detection of extremely low concentrations of tissue antigens. These kits provide a sensitive means for detecting horseradish peroxidase-labeled antibodies and conjugates. HistoMark® BLACK contains cobalt enhanced DAB that produces a black, cobalt- DAB polymer with a signal 5-10 times more sensitive than DAB alone when observed by light microscopy. HistoMark® ORANGE contains nickel-enhanced DAB that produces an orange-red DAB polymer and also exceeds the sensitivity of
DAB alone.

Both systems include the nuclear counterstain, Contrast GREEN, a solution of methyl green which provides sharp contrast with black or orange. Blocking solution is provided to prevent endogenous peroxidase activity. The precipitates from HistoMark® BLACK and ORANGE are alcohol and xylene insoluble, allowing section to be mounted in aqueous or xylene-based mounting media.
