Quality Parts & Accessories

Mandel uses manufacturer-specified parts for all repairs and maintenance.

Specifically designed to minimize operator fatigue, the Mandel Lab Assist is small and lightweight. It accepts most pipettes from 1 to 100 mL.

Each pipette filler and pipet dispenser button has three speeds: fast, medium, slow. The medium speed is suitable for most routine techniques. Fast speed can deliver up to 50mL in 5 seconds and can be used for rapid filling of large pipets or breaking up cell clumps. Slow speed is ideal when using small pipettes or when more precise delivery is required. A gravity drain model is available which substitutes a gravity drain function for the fast mode on the dispense button.

The Mandel Lab Assist is powered by a 9 volt (Ni-MH) rechargeable battery.

A Tissue Culture Nosepiece, which features a unique filter element, will cease to allow air to pass in either direction if it becomes wet, alerting the user to possible contamination of the rubber insert.

  • Lightweight, compact, and portable
  • Three speed settings provide more precise control for use in the pipet filler mode and the pipette dispenser mode
  • Easy access battery replacement
  • Includes holster-type wall bracket, removable stand, charger, EZ Grip nosepiece with double membrane filter, 4 replacement filters

Speed Controls
Three settings on each button set the desired speed range (S=slow, M=medium, F=fast). The fill and empty buttons are independent of each other and can be set at different speeds. The speeds are changed by simply rotating the button until a detent is felt and the letter is upright when held in the right hand. The buttons are also proportional in nature. The further you depress the button, faster filling or dispensing will result. Rotating the button to “S” will reduce the speed to approximately half of the medium speed while rotating to “F” will double the medium speed. DO NOT CHANGE SPEED RANGES WITH LIQUID IN THE PIPETTE

Changing the Filter & Nosepiece Removal
One piece nosepiece contains the filter and rubber insert. This nosepiece locks into place and will not loosen when removing the pipette. To remove nosepiece, slide the nosepiece release button towards the handle and turn the nosepiece one quarter turn counter-clockwise.

Battery Replacement
The battery is contained in the upper portion of the handle. Removal of one Phillips screw (B), will enable you to remove the battery compartment door which will give you access to the battery. Under normal conditions, these batteries should last approximately 2 years.

Charging the Battery
The replacement battery is a Ni-MH battery which should be charged overnight following use. No “memory” will be developed and overcharging is not a problem.

Use of the Removable Stand
This lightweight stand slides on to the top of the Mandel Lab Assist enabling the user to set the controller down without removing or emptying the pipette. The stand will prevent liquid from running back into the nosepiece and prevent the pipette tip from contacting anything thus maintaining sterility. When not needed, the stand is easily removed.
