Basic Glove Boxes

Basic glove boxes are an economical way to perform and maintain a wide range of atmospheres and functions, including use as a dry glove box, inert gas or nitrogen glove box. As configure the base unit is a manual system however over 20 different options are available to configure the unit into your specific glove box need.

Equipped with a purge valve, automatic pressure relief valves, large side door, interior power supply and hermetically sealed glove ports these glove boxes can provide your desired environment for critical operations in such industries as semiconductor, pharmaceutical testing and manufacturing. A range of materials is available to suit your requirements:

  • Vinyl glove boxes for simple containment and superior operator comfort
  • Polymer glove boxes for flexible design and operation, ideal for most simple purge glove box applications
  • Aluminum glove boxes for durable and harsh chemical operations

All glove boxes are fabricated to meet rigorous standards for cleanliness and durability. Solvent welding ensures a strong, airtight structure that won’t leak. The gaskets on the side doors provide a safe, positive seal without interfering with full access to the internal chamber.

Options and accessories include ports for tubing cords, microscope view ports, heaters, chiller, and more.

All glove boxes come with a large equipment entry on the rear of the unit. This entrance consists of a 20″ (50 cm) entry cap that is taped in place after installing large equipment in the glove box.

  • Glove ports, 10″ x 13″ oval opening (25 x 33 cm) on 19″ (48 cm) centers, are constructed of a special highly flexible vinyl frosted to prevent cracking and gas leakage at bend points.
  • Two 1.5″ (38 mm) I.D. feed-thrus are attached for wiring, tubing, or cord input. (Additional feed-thrus may be ordered at the time of purchase.)

Aluminum Glove Box

All construction is from the following durable materials:

  • Epoxy-coated aluminum (1/8″, 3.2mm thick)
  • Clear polycarbonate (1/4″, 6.4mm thick) viewing and glove port panel
  • Patented Diaphragm Top manufactured from flexible PVC
  • EPOM rubber door gaskets
  • Advanced silicone adhesives and sealants
  • Self sealing quick disconnect gas fittings
  • Automatic pressure relief valves
  • 1/4″ (6mm) NPT gas inlet ball valve

Construction
Many accessories are mounted to the glove box exterior to maximize interior work area and ease of maintenance. Quick disconnect fittings with NPT valves are included for easy self sealing connection of tubing. The viewing screen is designed to provide excellent interior shadow-free ambient light optional overhead lighting is available. Tempered glass may be substituted for the standard polycarbonate for certain chemical operations. All units are hermitically sealed and pressure checked at the factory for leaks. An inexpensive gas leak detector can be purchased for field-testing. GFI power lines are installed in humidified systems.
